There are European copies available in North America. How can one tell the difference? If your product box is vertical and has no inside flaps, you are the happy owner of the European version. In that case, you should definitely read the following lines. The solution to most of your problems lies here. In case you have a horizontal double flapped packaging, you don’t need to read this. Ocpatch2.exe– 8.3MB This is a patch for the European version of the game which fix's many problems with the game. Most everybody should grab this one. Outcast.exe If you are having CD insertion problems , try this file. Just replace the former outcast.exe file with the new, and run the game from the new Outcast.exe file. This is a collection of tips on how to solve problems with getting the game going. This was made by allot of readers input and allot are from the message board. With that in mind, they might not work for you since your system might be very different from the people who sent in the fix. Read through and try them out if you think it applies to your problem. |

-Remember to not have anything else running while trying to play. |

-Blade reports that having your desktop running at 24bits helps along with any true color setting. Even try a 16bit desktop since it has helped others. |

-controls.ini in your Outcast directory is a place to rework your control settings. This is something to look at if you are have a joystick as it takes higher priority than mouse and keyboard. !Warning! Make sure the file does not change size! Outcast will not run if it is different. You MUST NOT remove the entries for the joystick completely. Another solution is simply unplugging the joystick |

Now we're not sure if this actually changes the resolution because in the screenshot he sent me it looks like the game just stretched the image to fit the new screen size. Also if the game just switches the resolution back down, you'll have to re-edit the Loader.ini each time the game is launched. |

- If you are having troubles with your 3d audio, be it EAX or otherwise, make sure that only one of the 3d audio options are selected. People have reported that having both on will screw up EAX. |
